Adam Davidson

I met Adam Davidson for the first time in 2007, during the Chicago Pipe Show. It was his very first show and he had his first production of pipes. I bought a very nice stacked straight egg in a deep and craggy rusticated finish and black stain, black ebonite stem and silver band.

During the next Chicago show I bought my second Davidson, a very cute Poker Nosewarmer. My third Davidson was a very strange black blasted Rhodesian with yellow bakelite stem.

Since then I started a good friendship with Adam and I have visited him in Myrtle Beach, where he lives and work, a couple of times.

Adam Davidson makes approximately 75 pipes per year both smooth or sandblasted, using Italian briar and German ebonite for his hand cut stems. His shapes are basically inspired by a classic shape chart, with some Danish inspired examples. His famous ‘Fig’  is actually his Signature Shape and he declined it in many variants, including a few with a Bamboo shank which is a material that he really like to work with.
