    Notes
The pipes comes with a Neatpipes sock.

Dating a Castello pipe is never an easy job!
In fact you can exactly read a number stating the year of production, only on smooth pipes (from ‘Castello’ series and up) made after 1987, which is the year of the 40° Anniversary of the factory.

You will never find a clear year stamping on those pipes made before 1987 and on the pipes belonging to Sea Rock, Old Antiquari, Trade Mark series. These pipes could only be approximately dated referring to the stampings, logo on the mouthpiece or the design of the shape.

The shank of the pipe presented in this page is not stamped with any Castello logo and number and the 'K' stamps are in capital letters and not circled. This suggests that the pipe is surely made before 1980, when Franco Coppo introduced circled 'K'.
It is interesting to know that 'K' grading was introduced in early 70's when Franco Coppo joined the factory.

We can say that this pipe was made between 1970 and 1981.

The pipe has been professionally cleaned. The mouthpiece is the original one and it has been sterilized. Our cleaning process could be considered as ‘conservation intervention’. We save all original stamps, marks and logos on the mouthpiece. The stain of the pipe is the original one and it is not modified at all. The chamber is cleaned from the carbon cake of the previous smoker. We apply a very light layer of vegetal carbon.
