Portfolio Grading system Description

Mario Pascucci lives in Pesaro, where he spent his life working in the Mastro De Paja factory, for more than 30 years. He quickly became the Great Master of the factory and for many years he shaped the most famous Mastro de Paja freehand shapes, giving to the popular Pesaro brand a peculiar and original characteristic.

Now, after many years, Mario Pascucci decided to leave Mastro de Paja factory to achieve the dream of his life: creating his own Line of Pipes with his name

Shapes and Grading System

Mario Pascucci shapes are inspired from the Great Italian tradition of freeforms, with generous bowls and abundance of perfect straigh grain. Pascucci pipes are made with Tuscanian Briar Plateau which is personally selected by Mario during his frequent visits to the saw mill.

Each Pascucci pipe is stamped with 'Pascucci' stamp and 'Hand Made in Italy' in an oval.

The acrylic mouthpiece features a Sterling Silver 'P'

In the very typical Italian tradition, the lowest grade of Mario Pascucci pipes is the Rusticated. Finishes are actually two: brown color and tan brown color. Rusticated pipes have no special stamp to connote the finish.

Only a few Semi Rusticated are made. Those pipes selected for this finish usually feature a killer grain on the bowl. Semi Rusticated pipes have no special stamp to connote the finish.

The lowes smooth grade is 'PI' (or P1). Grain is nice but sometimes wide on a part of the bowl. Pascucci pipes have NO fills to cover briar imperfection. PI usually comes in dark contrast color, brown amber color and rarely on clear color. PI Smooth pipes are stamped with PI in a circle.

The mid smooth grade is 'PII' (or P2). Grain is nice and uniform around the bowl. Pascucci pipes have NO fills to cover briar imperfection. PII usually comes in dark contrast color, brown amber color and clear color. PII Smooth pipes are stamped with PII in a circle.

The top smooth grade is 'PIII' (or P3). Grain is usually very nice, close to straight all around the bowl. Pascucci pipes have NO fills to cover briar imperfection. PIII usually comes in the clear finish and rarely with a contrast color. PIII Smooth pipes are stamped with PIII in a circle.

The Highest Grade of Pascucci pipes is the 'Fiammata'. Only the best, nicest, clean and perfect pipes will be stamped with this special mark. 'Fiammata' pipes are stamped with 'Fiammata' stamp.

In the best Pesaro tradition, some of Pascucci pipes are featured by a wide variety of adorments. Mario uses briar, exotic woods, horn, plain silver, double silver, army mounts and several others.
