Since 1983 he is the holder of the homonymic graphic, design and industrial and advertising photography studio.
He has been smoking pipe since 70's; in 2004 started to mold his first pipe from a piece of briar. Since then he followed for several time to file, drill and sandpapering briar, to get skilled with the equipment used to realize a perfect product both in design and in finishing.
His pipes and mouthpieces are completely hand made, except the bores made with a vertical drill.
Corrado uses old briar, with ebauchon seasoned from 3 up to 10 years, carefully selected piece by piece. The mouthpiece, fundamental part of the pipe, are designed and realized for each sigle pipe, to have it perfectly joined with the briar. They might be coupled to several different materials, like briar, Yak bone, ecc.
To avoid the condense efficiently and to have the smoke made cold, Corrado designed a removable devise which could be applied between shank and mouthpiece, but without have it definitely unified to the pipe. This special devise, called "Hoof" do not change the shape of the pipe, if not applied.
It is essentially a patented cooling system, made to collect the condense with the benefit (beeing removable) that it do not affect permanently the design of the pipe.
To create each briar "Hoof", Corrado must do a Carthusian work, to couple it to the shank and mouthpiece, but having clear that the shank must continue to match perfectly the mouthpiece, even without "Hoof".
GRADING SYSTEM
The grading system values both the quality of the briar (straight grain, cross grain, birdseye, ecc.) and the design and difficulties of realization of the pipe. Each piece is graded from A to G (of higher quality).Il sistema di valutazione, tiene conto oltre alla qualità della radica, (fiammata, cross grain, occhio di pernice, ecc. ) anche al design e difficoltà realizzative della pipa stessa. Questi, vanno della A alla G (di maggior pregio). Above all there is the "M" grade which detects a SPECIAL piece.
