NEATPIPES 5 YEARS
To celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Neatpipes.com I asked to five Italian pipemakers to realize a small series of 5 pipes (each one). Each of these series has a philosophy inside, which reflect the philosophies that helped me to develop my Neatpipes project during these five years.
The first of these series has been made by RADICE.
The pipe is the expression of the highest perfection made by Luigi Radice and his sons, Marzio and Gianluca: the shape, the finish, the care of details, the White Gold band mounted... something that call me back the rules I follow when I select a pipe to offer through my website.
Description
I can't define this pipe as "straight grained" but its grain is very nice all around the bowl, with a pleasant crossgrain on the bottom. The natural plateau rim is very peculiar, higher on sides and a little bit lower on front and back of the bowl. It is featured by thick walls and by a capacious chamber. The round shank has a 18K White Gold Band (8mm - 3/8 inches) which is engraved with all marks. Lucite straight bit.
The pipe will come with the Bamboo tamper that you can see in the picture.
The pipe might seems a little bit heavy but it is perfectly balanced and the short size will let you feel lighter in the mouth, during smoking. When I smoke my Billiard Chubby (the weight is 71, 3 grams) I feel the same weight of when I smoke another regular Billiard of 145 mm of length (43 grams).
