DESCRIPTION
"Underwood" finish is featured by hand scultured wax drips on the bowl. The idea of this special scultured finish comes from the discontinued "Epoca" by Castello, which Luigi was used to make when he worked at the factory in Cantù, at the beginning of his carreer as pipemaker. "Wax Drips" has been scultured on hundreds pipes of a lot of Italian pipemakers, creating different versions of this pretty idea.
Luigi interpretation of Drip of Wax on the bowl of a pipe is obtained, defining and emphasizing the drips falling down from the top, but with the must to keep the shape of the pipe unchanged, wuthout any alteration.
The pipe in this page is very special. The scultured drips have been left smooth (Luigi is used to make them scratched). The grain of the briar is clearly visible on them. This special craftiness creates a pleasant effect: drips seem like they're falling down from the natural platau rim. This kind of effect is possible because of the shape of the bowl, which naturally follows the morphology of the piece of briar. The long shank is smooth and it shows a nice grain.
