The Billiard shape has been interpreted by many pipemakers. Who is the pipemakers who has never tried to make the most classical pipe ever made? Besides I can affirm that it is one of the most requested shapes by pipesmokers. This fact created a very large number of variants to the most classical shape, with cylindrical bowl and round shank. It is quite easy to find a Billiard with a longer or thinner shank (but not a Liverpool); sometimes the section of the shank could be oval or diamond. The bowl could be higher and stacked (but not a chimney) or lightly canted. One of the most popular variant is the panelled Billiard, with flat sides and bottom. The shank is usually round; if it is squared the pipe takes the name of Foursquare. The bowl could also have an esagonal or octagonal shape. This is very common in many of the Classic panelled Danish shapes.
