The Dublin shape is strictly connected to the Billiard shape for its proportions; the difference is the shape of the bowl which is conical and not cylindric. Sometimes the bowl is lightly canted, but most of the times it is perfectly straight. The pipe has been made with taper or saddled stem; it could be also found with the Army Mount style.
In the past the Dublin shape was characterized by a conical chamber which presented problems of condense and in any way a different smoke. In the latest years several pipemakers, like Castello or Radice are making their Dublin pipes with a cylindric chamber. The smoke of the pipe is exactly the same as a Billiard; the thickness of the wood decrease from the top of the rim up to the bottom of the bowl.
CONNECTED SHAPES
The Bent variant of the Dublin has been the base to create several freeforms. The famous Classical Greatline style by Castello took idea from this shape.
